Just a random quickie I whipped up today, as I felt that Kate's snakes needed an update to/change in their design.
I felt as though I should downplay the whole one eyed snake Phallic symbolism, to compensate I based the new design off the most infamous phallic symbol in pop culture (no its not Justin Bieber) the Xenomorphs from the Alien Franchise.
As H.R. Geiger designed a lot of the elements behind Aliens with Phallic symbolism in mind, in particular to invoke uncomfortable messages and feelings of rape.
This sort of rings true of what I want to do with Kate, as she is a pure raw form of sexuality, encompassing the extremes of Femininity and Masculinity.
Her extreme proportions symbolise a perverse form of femininity, whilst her powers encompass the masculine part, being snake heads that can turn into many groping hands or whips to satisfy her sadistic preferences.
Her power comes completely from her hair, being as sort of bastard child of Bayonetta and Jackie Estacado (the Darkness). I always picture her using her powers akin to the way Doctor Octopus (from Spider-man 2, portrayed by Alfred Molina) uses the extra arms to move and fight. I also sort of picture the symbiotic relationship similarly with Sameal, sort of co-ercing Kate’s motives.
I would go into a lot more depth, but I'll leave it for another time, if people want to know so badly they can ask in the comments.
